Default correct ski length

Hello boardmembers, I am 5'-9.5" tall and weigh 190lbs. I have a pair of K2 Apache Raider skis: 160cm. 119-78-105. I'm concerned that they are too short. I've had them for at least 2 years. Is it possible for a ski of this length with these proportions at this length to give it an exagurated parabolic (shaped ski) shape that may affect its performance? Skis don't seem to edge even on easier slopes. I am an advanced beginner as far as experience and ability. Going to go to Canaan Valley (W.Va.) but I'm feeling a little depressed that my skill level won't increase. Seems it's hard to learn on relatively shorter steeper runs as compared to out west.( haven't been there yet) Thanks for any feedback.

By my calculations the skis are just over 5 feet in length...like 5'2" or 5'3". You said you're 5'9"...do the skis touch your chin if you stand next to them? If they are between your chin and nose they are probably the right length for your skills. Shorter skis will be easier to turn & manuver. Longer skies will generate more speed, as they have more surface area. Shorter skills are good for learning as they are more forgiving.

A good rule of thumb to follow is the overall height of ski should touch your chin if you are a beginner, nose for intermediate and forehead or taller for advanced to expert skiers.

(P.S. I saw you posted this Q on another ski forum...I hope the answer you received here was better )
