A development company that includes the principal owner of the shuttered Powder Ridge Ski Area has presented to town planners a complex proposal for reinvigorating and expanding the site, which would include time-share housing, a hotel, a spa and indoor and outdoor water theme parks.
Kenneth Leavitt, president of White Water Mountain Resorts of Connecticut Inc., which owns Powder Ridge, presented to the planning and zoning commission on Wednesday a "conceptual plan" for saving the ski area and developing a multimillion-dollar, year-round resort on the property. Leavitt is proposing the redevelopment of the property in partnership with Resort Realty Inc. of Madison, a marketer of time-share properties.
