Default Oregon Skiers....Mt, Hood is Getting The Love!

Hey Guys, I work at Mt. Hood Meadows and since last week, we have been getting incredible early season conditions. As of tonight, we are at the 50 inch mark and the conditions are excellent. The forecast is calling for light snow all week long.

Mike, I'm thinking of going tomorrow, Thursday. How will the conditions be? Will Friday be better? This will be earliest I've ever skied during the season.

On Friday, wind seems to be the big issue. Both days look to be great snow conditions. As they say, the best skiing and riding on Mt. Hood is when the weather is at it`s worst....

Quote:
Tonight: A 50 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 25. Windy, with a southwest wind between 24 and 32 mph, with gusts as high as 46 mph. Total nighttime snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.

Thursday: Snow likely. Cloudy, with a high near 32. Windy, with a southwest wind between 24 and 33 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Thursday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 30. Windy, with a south southwest wind between 26 and 30 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Friday: Snow. High near 28. Windy, with a south southwest wind between 26 and 30 mph, with gusts as high as 41 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Friday Night: Snow showers likely. Cloudy, with a low around 18. Windy, with a west wind between 29 and 33 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

OK, and now it's March and I was just there this past week. The conditions were still great, and since I left mid-week, they've gotten another foot of fresh snow.

You don't normally think of the PAC NW as a skiing destination, but with 3600 feet of vertical at Timberline (open to the top!!) and 2700 at Meadows, there is some good skiing to be had.
