Downhill Great Luc Alphand Badly Injured in Rally Crash
The 1997 Overall World Cup Champion Luc Alphand has been badly injured in a motorcycle crash in France, though the extent of his injuries hasnít yet been disclosed.
His agents said he underwent surgery for his spine, which is believed to have been fractured, and the hospital later stated that the operation was successful.
The 43 year-old downhill skiing great swapped his skis for motorcycle rallying when he retired from alpine ski racing, and in 2006 won the Dakar Rally.
The Ski Channel wishes Alphand a speedy recovery.

I had never heard of this. As a fellow countryman, I always rooted for him on the World Cup circuit. In addition to rallying he has also competed at the 24 Heures du Mans driving Corvettes.
