A friend of mine skis and I would like to give it a try. eBay has a bunch of ski packages made up of older 3 pin binding skis. I could probably get a complete set (skis, poles, and shoes) for less than 150 dollars. I watching a couple that look to be in really good shape. Would buying these be a good idea for a beginner? Thanks.

I would recommend renting your first time out. If you're a quick learner you don't want to be stuck with a set of skis that holds you back.

I totally agree. Some friends and I are heading out on the 20th of this month. There's a place about 90 min. from me that does rentals for a great rate. I'm pumped to give it a try.
