It all comes down to one final day for four area ski teams and eight individual qualifiers on Monday.
The defending Division II state champion Petoskey boys’ ski team, as well as the Harbor Springs boys, Charlevoix-East Jordan girls, and the Petoskey girls, will all take to the slopes in quest of the state championship at Boyne Mountain.
The Petoskey boys, who topped Harbor for the state title last season after finishing runner-up to the Rams in the regional, are coming off a regional championship last week at Marquette Mountain as well as a Big North Conference championship, which they wrapped up this week at Caberfae Peaks in Cadillac.
“It’s been a great season and we’re looking for some pretty good ski racing,” said Petoskey veteran coach Brewster McVicker, who’s boys’ teams have won 10 state titles during his tenure. “This is what it’s all about. Our goal all year has been to get to the state meet and it’s finally here.
