Default MBE Awarded to Ingrid Christophersen

Ingrid (Ingie) Christophersen has been awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for Services to Skiing.

Ingie in Sunnier Climes
Throughout Ingie’s life she has been involved in many aspects of Alpine and Nordic skiing including racing, teaching and organising events.

Ingie was brought up in Norway and her first achievement came at the age of 14 when she won a slalom open to all the inhabitants of Oslo. Between 1963 and 1968 she was part of the British ski team and after that she took over the management of the British Ladies B team until 1970. In more recent years she was the manager of the British Children’s Team.

As well as managing teams Ingie has been a key figure in the training of many skiers of all ages. She trained the British Team in 1976, the Green Jackets for Operation Snow Queen and the 21 SAS Territorial Army. Her true dedication to racing can be seen through her role over the last 40 years as the Racing and Training Manager for the Downhill Only Club

She always excelled, as an instructor she obtained the highest Alpine grade of the British Association of Ski Instructors (BASI 1) and grade 2 for Nordic. Ingie also went on to become a FIS Technical Delegate for both Alpine and Nordic events. For many years Ingie also helped the Ski Club by training the Reps who lead the members around resorts world wide.

Ingie is truly dedicated to skiing and is the British delegate to the International Ski Federation on various committees which include the Citadin Committee and the Committee for Youth and Children.
