Default Winds in CZE Blow Out Combined Sprint

LIBEREC, Czech Republic (Feb. 15) - Gusting and intermittent winds forced cancellation Friday of a World Cup nordic combined sprint competition on the 2009 FIS Nordic World Championships jumping hill. Seventeen skiers jumped before the winds halted the action on the 134-meter hill - before Bill Demong (Vermontville, NY), No. 2 in the overall standings, or former sprint world champion Johnny Spillane (Steamboat Springs, CO) could jump. Saturday, the skiers face an individual (15K) event and the pre-Worlds visit ends Sunday with another sprint scheduled.
