Default Legendary Events Heat Up February at Snowshoe Mountain

SNOWSHOE, West Virginia -- Two of Snowshoe's most anticipated annual events are right around the corner. The mountain will host the 20th annual Cuervo Games of Winter on February 1-3. This event is annually one of the mountain's biggest party weekends of the season. Giving competitors just enough time to recover from the weekend's festivities, the 34th Annual Cupp Run Challenge Ski and Snowboard Race will take place on Monday, February 4th. The events will also coincide with Super Bowl Sunday, with gameday parties across the mountain.

Cuervo Weekend will kick-off Thursday night with a warm-up party at Hoot's, giving partiers just a taste of what's to come on this wild weekend. Friday will feature the annual Cardboard Box Racer Building Party, followed by parties at the mountains hotspots; Moonshine, the Junction and Foxfire Grille. Saturday will feature the infamous Great Games of Winter, with the cardboard box race, snow volleyball, tug-o-war and other classic competitions. After the games, the party moves indoors to the Connection Nightclub. Cuervo Happy Hour will be followed by a live performance by Hip Kitty, Nashville's best rock/pop act, who will keep the party going into the morning. Sunday's schedule includes the Recovery party at Moonshine, and several Super Bowl viewing parties across the mountain.

After the Cuervo hangover has worn off, skiers and snowboarders from all over the East will tackle the region's longest slope— Cupp Run. The 34th Annual Cupp Run Challenge invites skiers and riders 13 years of age and older to compete for great prizes in one of the East's most exciting races. Pros and amateurs will race down the 1.25-mile course, dropping 1,000 feet in minutes. Participants may register in the Shavers Centre on Sunday from 6 to 8 pm, or on Monday morning from 8 to 9 am. The race will begin at 10:15a.m. after a brief racers meeting and course inspection. All racers must register and are required to wear a race bib. The awards ceremony will take one hour after the finish at the Connection. Race-specific questions should be directed to Brian Hoos in the Snowshoe Race Department at 304-572-5958 or bhoos@snowshoemtn.com.
