Six Skiers To Represent U.S. In Topolino
PARK CITY, Utah (Jan. 15) - Six J3 alpine skiers (ages 13-14) will represent the United States next month at the 47th Topolino Trophy races in Pinzolo, Italy, the premier J3 races in the world. Skiers from more than 40 nations compete and it's the first step in the development pipeline, bringing young racers into their first international competition.
Walt Evans, national competition director for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, said the U.S. skiers include one boy and one girl from the USSA's Eastern, Rocky/Central and West regions. Each region had its own criteria for selection. The Topolino races will be held Feb. 22-23 with giant slalom and slalom on the schedule.
