Key points from the FIS Spring meetings in Portoroz, Slovenia.
NORDIC COMBINED
· USSA will have the chance to host World Cup B competitions at two sites in conjunction with two competitions in Vancouver during the 2008-09 season.
· Team Sprint competitions will now be include only one competition jump per team member, but will still use the current calculation system (30 points per minute).
· The green light phase is changed from 5 seconds to 10.
· The BMI scale will remain the same this season, however, athletes will be weighed without their competition equipment (boots and suits).
· Small modifications to the jumping suit requirements were made (elastic in the collar is no longer allowed, thumb stirrups are no longer allowed).
· Ski jumping helmets are being reviewed with an aim of evaluating the requirement of an international crash safety rating, visible on the helmet.
· A new scoring system for mass-start events will be tested during the SUGP, which will include a meters per place according to the cross country finish, and bonus meters based on mid-race sprints.
· The Nordic Combined FIS TD seminar will take place in Liberec, CZE Sept. 19-23.
· A nordic combined girls' class has been established (competitors under 16 years old), with the first competitions to be held during the SUGP in Klingenthal, GER this summer.
SKI JUMPING
· Lake Placid (Aug. 28-29), Park City (Sept. 1-2) and Iron Mountain (Feb. 16-17) were accepted into the 2007-08 Continental Cup calendar. Lake Placid and Park City will host women's events; Iron Mountain will host men's.
· New standards for the judging of outrun fault group deductions were adopted.
· The maximum age for Junior Worlds is increased to under 20 years old.
· The minimum age for Ski Flying is established at 18.
