Hello All:

After a 15 year hiatus, I have returned to the sports I love. XC -ski racing and recreational downhill skiing. This thread is regarding downhill. Took a trip to Vail two years ago and this year it's Montana. I am so outdated on the technology, but I'm considering buying my own downhill equipment.

Questions:
1) if I ski once or twice a year, is it worth buying my own stuff?

2) Any advice on the best downhill equipment for, let's say, an advanced, recreational downhill skier?
I'm referring to brands, etc. I looked at K2 AMP Livewire, AMP Wired, and Fischer RX Force tonight.

3) What's the sizing rule these days? I'm 6'1", #200.

I'm sure anything is better than my 1985 Head skis!

Any input is appreciated. There are good sales out there now.
