Ted Ligety shredded his way to second in the first run as the Audi FIS World Cup opened for the men in Soelden Sunday. Swiss Didier Cuche, starting first, is the first run leader with a .36 second margin over Ligety. The American absolutely tore up the top of the course, but touched down twice on the steep top pitches. Despite those bobbles, he carried the fastest time through the first two intermediate timing marks, but could not match Cuche's perfection on the rolly flats at the bottom. Second run is set for 7:45 a.m. ET and will be carried live on

The U.S. Ski Team's Tim Jitloff (Reno, NV) almost snuck into the second run, finishing 31st - one spot ahead of World Cup rookie Tommy Ford (Bend, OR), skiing his first World Cup. Jitloff missed the cut by two-tenths.
