"We've now gone from being the hunter to being the hunted."
- Leah LeSage, Purgatory alpine head coach
The Southern Series Cup is awarded to the best overall team, based on the highest finishes in two giant slalom races and two slalom races. "We've now gone from being the hunter to being the hunted," Purgatory alpine head coach Leah LeSage said.
"Retaining the Cup was the team's goal all year, and losing would have been a huge disappointment. The kids have trained hard all winter, and they took care of business when it mattered most," LeSage said.
"We have a ton of experienced racers. Combine that with racing at home, and I didn't envy the task faced by the other teams," she said.
"And when you look at the number of young kids in the program, we've got a great shot at keeping this trophy for a while."
