Germany's Kathrin Hoelzl pushed herself from fourth in the first run to win a career first gold at the 2009 FIS Alpine Ski World Championships Thursday in Val d'Isere. Olympic gold medalist Julia Mancuso (Olympic Valley, CA) led the U.S., finishing 18th.
