Default Mckennis Wins Four In A Row

Rowmark Ski Academy's Alice McKennis (Glenwood Springs, CO) took her fourth NorAm win in a row, winning the super G on Sunday at Panorama.

"I'm totally psyched about it. It's really cool to have won that many races in a row," McKennis said. "It's nice that all my hard work has paid off and it feels really good to be rewarded with that many wins."

According to McKennis, logging in gym hours during her training season played a huge role in her string of success.

"All my life I've been working really hard at ski racing. This summer I spent time in Park City at the gym a lot and I think that really helped me get in better shape," McKennis said. "I had a lot of great training and overall I've just been putting in the hours and I think it paid off."

The women's U.S. Team took three of the top-five places with Katie Hartman (Breckenridge, CO) grabbing the podium at third and Julia Ford (Plymouth, NH) claiming fifth.

Other notable racers were Jennifer VanWagner (Traverse City, MI) in ninth and Julia Littman (Vail, CO) taking 10th.

Sunday also was the women's combined race where Julia Ford (Plymouth, NH) took home the win.

Additionally, the junior women claimed four of the top five with Katie Hartman (Breckenridge, CO), Katie Hitchcock (Sacramento, CA) and Julia Littman (Vail, CO) taking second third and fourth. Fifth place belonged to Canada's Ashley-Kate Durham.

The women compete in a super G on Monday before taking a break for the holidays. But, for McKennis, it's all about competing.

"I'm really excited. My giant slalom and slalom have come a long way and now I'm just going to go in there and really charge hard," McKennis said. "I'm just going to go after it and see what happens."
