Beaver Creek Super Combined Canceled
Overnight snowfall, which put 10-12 inches of fresh powder on the hill, forced officials to cancel the super combined portion of the Audi Birds of Prey races on Thursday in Beaver Creek. There is no word yet on possible rescheduling for the race in Beaver Creek or elsewhere.
"Obviously there's no opportunity to run the race today with the excessive amount of snow we have on course," said USSA Vice President of Events Calum Clark. "The course crew is going to continue to do everything in its power to get the hill ready for tomorrow."
Course workers labored tirelessly on the hill for most of the morning Wednesday before snowcats took on hill maintenance overnight.
Athletes were notified of the cancellation prior to heading up the hill for inspection Thursday morning.
Snow is expected to fall throughout the day, but officials expect to have the course ready for the Birds of Prey races to begin Friday with a downhill.
