The most recent Snowy Hydro reading at Perisher Blue of 136.6cm (taken 9th July at Spencer's Creek) has just confirmed that this is the best start to the season since 1990. This surpasses the oft referred to 2000 and 2004 bumper years following more heavy snowfalls this week.
Other Australian resorts are reporting similar great falls. Hotham claimed to be the first resort in the country to pass the metre mark for snow depth earlier in the week with 125cm following a 68cm snow fall over the past week.
