Blind Speed Skiing double world record holder, Kevin Alderton, was one of many to participate in The Royal London Society for the Blind's (RLSB) first ever Pro-Am Golf Tournament recently.
The event, which took place at Wildernesse Golf Club in Sevenoaks, proved to be a huge success and generated more than £12,500 towards the charity's provision of education, training and employment for blind and partially sighted people.
Kevin, who is sponsored by MARS® Refuel, lost his sight as a result of an incident in 1998 and only 6% of his vision was regained. He played a key role in the RLSB Golf Day, as the event's guest speaker - his talk on how he lost his sight was met with a mixture of disbelief and admiration, by a hushed audience.
Kevin commented: "It was great to have the chance to give something back to the RLSB, since they have done so much for me, in helping me regain my confidence and competitive spirit."
Kevin's blind speed ski career was saved earlier this year when a number of sponsors including the UK's number one selling chocolate flavoured milk drink* - MARS Refuel – announced their 2007 sponsorship.
Arguably the world's bravest skier, Kevin has been overwhelmed with the support from his sponsors - he created a new world record for Blind Speed Skiing earlier this year, achieving a staggering 100.94mph.
