When one is learning to ski the first time, is it good to advise him to do freestyle? Or is it better to teach him the ABC's of skiing, giving it to him step by step or let him have a general feel of the sport, learning it his own ways first before giving him formal instructions?

I guess everyone has a different way of learning. So it would king of depend on who is learning to ski. I personally think everyone should start with a step by step lesson. There are basic aspects that you have to learn before you learn to actually get on snow. Like how to stand, when to bend all the necessities you need to survive when skiing.

My opinion? Please don't teach someone new to ski unless you are a certified and well-trained instructor.
