Default Conditions Excellent at U.S. Freestyle Training

The reviews are in, and they're raves. The 2010 U.S. Olympic Freestyle Team has found plenty of snow on Cypress Mountain as it dials its runs and jumps in training sessions Monday night and Tuesday afternoon, putting to bed concerns about the mountain's readiness for the Games.

"The course is in beautiful shape," said 2002 Olympic moguls silver medalist Shannon Bahrke (Tahoe City, CA). "As soon as it gets a little more skier traffic, it's going to be perfect."

Temperatures were around freezing early Tuesday morning before the team practice in the afternoon and were cooling off again Tuesday evening.

"Training was good last night," said aerials competitor Michael Morse (Duxbury, MA). "The course is in good condition given the amount of snow."

As an enormous support staff continues to perfect the aerials and moguls courses, athletes have given nothing but positive feedback, and moguls skier Michelle Roark (Denver) saw a plus to the lack of snow in nearby terrain – no lifts.

"The snowmobile rides just add to the fun," she said.

Women's moguls will kick things off for the freestyle athletes on Saturday, with the men's moguls event Sunday. The team will take a break from training Wednesday and return to the hill Thursday.
