The Canada Games Council has announced the final sports and disciplines selected for the 2015 Canada Winter Games to be held in British Columbia. Freestyle skiing will have a strong presence with Aerials, Moguls, Dual Moguls, Half Pipe and Ski Cross all being selected.
“The Canada Games are extremely important, especially to our Provincial Associations, in terms of athlete and sport development” said Canadian Freestyle Ski Association CEO Peter Judge. “We are proud to be part of it, and to have all our disciplines included is a huge benefit and honor. This gives all our provincial and club athletes something very meaningful to aim for – the experience they will have is incredible.
“The athletes who will be competing at the Canada Winter Games are our next generation of National Team athletes and this multi-sport Games experience is a great opportunity to assist in preparing them for events such as the Olympics” Judge added. “So to have a multi-team event with teams from across the country fits perfectly into our system. The Games also provide an exciting opportunity for our officials and coaches.”
