Default Replacing Bindings

Hi,

I am replacing a set of Marker 12.0 Free bindings on K2 PEs with Marker Jester bindings. Ive been told the hole patterns match so it should just be a straight swap. Im just wondering if there is any issue with doing this myself. Any reason to take it to the shop since im fairly sure i wouldn't need a jig given there is no drilling required?

Thanks!

You need to have the new bindings mounted professionally for safety reasons. If the holes are the same and no jig is required the cost should be minimul. Bindings need to be tested to be certain the din settings (numbers denoting retention setting) need to be verified. Just because you set lets say to 6 doesn't mean 6 is the actual retention setting, there might be a slight diference in tolerance or the new binding could be defective. The heel peices will need to have the forwared pressure set as well. If you absolutely have got to do this yourself use carpenters glue and tighten the mounting screws to the correct specified torque. The chance of over tightening and stripping the holes is real. Also depending on your weight and athleticism or lack thereof heli-coils might also be recommended. You'll need a professional to do this. Irregardless of whomever eventually mounts the binding's for you, you ought to have the din settings and forward pressure checked annually by a professional.
