At age 15 and 16, Bode Miller was crashing out of more races than he finished. But his potential was glaringly obvious.
At the same age, Ben Morse, the latest standout skier from Carrabassett Valley Academy, is finishing his races and skiing fast.
Morse picked up two gold medals this month in slalom and downhill at the J2 Olympics, an event that brings together the country's top 15- and 16-year-olds. Next up for Morse is the U.S. Alpine Championships in Alyeska, Alaska. Competition starts Thursday.
Morse's potential – like Miller's at that age – is also very clear. Morse is expected to be named to the development squad of the U.S. Ski Team later this spring.
