Schladming to host worlds
Schladming, which hosted the championships in 1982, beat Beaver Creek/Vail in the United States, Italy's Cortina d'Ampezzo and the Swiss resort of St Moritz in the vote.
The FIS awarded the 2013 Nordic skiing world championships to Val di Fiemme in Italy, the freestyle world championships to Voss, Norway and the snowboard world championships to Stoneham in Quebec.
Austria's double Olympic gold medallist Benjamin Raich is pictured here skiing at Schladming last season.
