Hello all this is my first post on this forum. I am an intermediate level XC skier. I picked up a pair of Karhu no wax(fish scale pattern) BC skis about 10 years ago. I liked the idea of having metal edges. Since buying them I have used them ~5 on minor flat locations and they worked fine. Last year I decided to get back into XC skiing and took my skis with a few friends on a long groomed/snow packed canyon road. What a surprise when I could not keep up with a couple of beginners on cheap rental skis. I could not keep up once the road had any incline. The skis are great descending. At least my friends ate my snow flakes on the descent

Anyone know what is wrong with these skis? Are they designed for only powder? Are there BC skis that don't perform well as I have described? I purchased them new and they are in great condition.
Thanks
