Cross Country Canada and rising star Alex Harvey have reached a compromise over a training dispute to reinstate the 20-year-old to the Canadian men's cross-country ski team.
Harvey, who won two World Cup bronze medals this season, was demoted to the Canadian development, or 'B', team because he didn't want to attend two of four off-season training camps.
He wanted to cut back on travel from his home in St.-Ferreol-les-Neiges, Que., to Western Canada and skip the first camp starting next week in Vernon, B.C. But Harvey says he'll be on a plane for Vernon on Sunday.
In exchange, Cross Country Canada will excuse him from the final camp in Mammoth Lakes, Calif., in October when he'll instead head to Austria with skiers from the Quebec training centre named after his father, who is four-time Olympian Pierre Harvey.
