Stratton Mountain School's Nordic Program Director Sverre Caldwell was named the 2009 U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association's Cross Country Domestic Coach of the Year.
The USSA Domestic Coach of the Year Award is based on outstanding contribution to the domestic program over the past season. The selection committee sited Caldwell's "outstanding development in the east, resulting in the top team at this year's Junior Olympics." Over the course of his 28-year career at SMS, Caldwell has helped place 12 Cross Country skiers on the U.S. Olympic Team and has had at least one World Junior Team member and at least one Junior National Champion for 14 straight years.
