The Noquemanon Ski Marathon will celebrate its 11th anniversary on January 24, 2009 with a new title sponsor on board. Marquette General Health Systems has become the title sponsor of the marathon. To reflect their commitment to the event, the Noque will now become known as the Marquette General Health System Noquemanon Ski Marathon. A new logo has been designed as well. The half marathon will still be sponsored by mBAnk and will continue to be known as the mBank Half Noque.
“With Subaru’s support for the past nine years, we have been successful in not only running a nationally known ski marathon, but have been able to provide money back into the community for new ski trails and children’s ski programming. We’re very pleased that MGHS, a local organization with a focus on health, will help us continue our high level of skier satisfaction of this world class event. We believe our mission and theirs are similar,--providing our residents, including their employees, with healthy lifestyle options while attracting visitors to Marquette County to showcase our quality of life and MGHS’ programs and facilities. We believe this relationship will be mutually beneficial for each of us,” stated Jon Mommaerts, Race Director.
The first Noquemanon Ski Marathon was held in 1999 and attracted 700 skiers. Since then, thousands of skiers from across the nation and world have participated in the 25K and 51K point to point ski events.
