Deva - not Diva. It means angel in Sanskrit and it is part of one of my earliest memories. I fell in love with winter when I was 4 years old living outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota. You
have to love winter if you are going to live in Minni. I'd seen snow before but this was the year that it really sank into my consciousness. I remember how it felt falling back into the soft snow and moving my arms and legs as big fluffy flakes fell onto my cold cheeks. It was the happiest day of my 4 years - it felt great. It felt like the world was the most perfect and beautiful place. While the feeling itself passed as I got up the memory of it lingered as I looked at the wonderful
himya deva I'd created - my snow angel.
I'm grown with kids of my own now and while I love all of the seasons nothing brings me to that place in my heart like winter does.
I am lucky enough to work in the winter sports industry. All year long I am connected to the mountains and the winter. I have been with
Willi's Ski Shop now for about 16 years. I moved here to Pittsburgh to be with the man who is now my husband when he came back from Colorado to work in his parents ski shop. While I hated to leave Colorado and my Sports Medicine behind I was greatful for the opportunity to work in the winter sports market. I have graduated through the ranks from Sales Person, to Store Manager, to Buyer, to Operations Manager but had to back off when the kids were born. I now work as the key Technical Writer which has become overwhelmingly busy with the addition of our two e-tail sites
Ski Warehouse and
The Jib Shop but it is my hope to continue sharing my knowledge through this blog and the various forums here at Skiing Forum. You can also visit me on
Snowboarding Forum where I will speak specifically to snowboard concerns and my regular blog at
Snow Deva Where I discuss a wide variety of snow related topics. I welcome questions and comments - I look forward to hearing from you!
Until then, I'll see ya on the slopes!
