I've had boots that allowed space for a Dr Scholls pad. One of the pairs I needed to put the insert under the foot board. Still had good enough fit/stability for any kind on ski terrain. If you don't skiing often, boots can really put the hurt on your feet. If that's the case, start putting the boots on during any idle time you have (reading online forums ...) and get those muscles used to being in boots.
