It sure doesn't help when manufacturers raise their prices to coincide with the worst recession in decades.
fortunately I got my Stockli Stormrider XXL skis at a season end price of $700 as they now retail for $1250 w/o bindings. Like the auto industry ski manufacturers will need to realize that some fancy new graphic isn't going to create the sales it used to generate. Unless new gear is a great improvement over previous years it's going to sit on a shelf longer in this economic climate. Combine that with airlines charging for checked bags (ie skis and snowboards) and we have another incentive to rent at the resort instead of owning.
