Ski and Snowboard Equipment Sales Drop Sharply
Retail sales of ski and snowboard equipment, apparel and accessories declined 16% overall in February 2009 over February 2008, according to new figures released this week by the trade group SnowSports Industries America (SIA). Snow Sports equipment sales were particularly hard hit in February, as consumers, riddled with fear over lost wealth and lost jobs, hesitated to purchase big ticket items like skis and snowboards in relatively average snow conditions.
