Default 13 staff banned from Austrian Ski Team

The Austrian National Olympic Committee are said to be doing all they can to bridge relations between them and the IOC, banning 13 members of staff, quickly paying their fine and welcoming the resignation of their Vice-President.
After the Austrian National Olympic Committee (NOC) were fined $1 million (£500,000) due to a doping affair during the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics, they have banned a total of 13 skiing staff from the team. They have also vowed to apply stricter measures and tighter controls in the future.

Those banned from the team include doctors, physios, and coaches, as well the Cross Country and Biathlon manager markus Gandler.

Although none of the Austrian atheletes tested positive for drugs, the IOC believed that there was enough evidence to induce the hefty fine.

The Vice-President of the Austrian National Olympic Committee (NOC), Peter Schroecksnadel, has also resigned, although this is allegdly due to his lack of trust in the NOC, rather than his part in the doping affair. He remains Head of Austria's Skiing Association.
