Default Two Top-10s in Team Relays

MALLES, Italy (Feb. 29) - The U.S. relay teams pumped their way to the finish Friday with the men landing seventh and the women ninth in the final cross country event of the 2008 FIS Nordic Junior World Championships.

Methow Valley Nordic Ski Team's Sadie Bjornsen (Winthrop, WA) went all out during her round, coming in with the third fastest time in the second leg of the race.

Sophie Caldwell (Peru, VT), Ida Sargent(Orleans, VT) , Alexa Turzian (Sun Valley, ID) made up the rest of the women's relay team that came in 2:08.9 behind the winner, Norway.

Finishing seventh in a field of 20, the U.S. men finished 2:04.0 back from Russia, who won gold.

The week of international juniors competition was highlighted by Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation's Noah Hoffman (Ketchum, ID) who finished 12th in the 10K race Monday, and also Dartmouth College's Sargent who placed 12th in the 1.3K sprint Saturday.
